Welcome to my page

I am an Educational Psychologist (Afrikaans and English) based in Constantia, Cape Town. I understand that choosing a psychologist, whether it is for therapy, or an assessment is a personal and at times an overwhelming endeavour. I truly believe that the bond between therapist and client is essential to healing, echoing the wisdom of Gabor Maté: “We are wounded in relationships, and we heal through relationships.”
I am a compassionate and engaging psychologist who finds meaning and purpose by helping my clients navigate through the hardships in their lives. I value authentic connections and strive to create a safe, nurturing space where they feel understood and cared for.

Special interests
I work with a variety of presenting challenges, but I have a special interest in anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodiversity (ADHD and Autism).

Qualifications
Masters Educational Psychology (UJ), PGCE (SU), Hons Psychology (RU), BSc Human Life Sciences (SU).

Therapy For Adolescents (ages 14+) And Adults

I work from a person-centred stance while employing an interactional approach. This allows me to explore how my clients relate to themselves and others in their unique contexts. I work in collaboration with my clients to gain insight and awareness into the cause of their stressors and explore behavioural changes that can lead to more fulfilling outcomes. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.

Psycho-Educational Assessments

A psycho-educational assessment refers to a comprehensive assessment battery aimed at understanding an individual’s cognitive-, emotional, and academic functioning. These assessments serve various functions, but it is mostly used to determine one’s areas of strength and to highlight areas where further development may be necessary. Interventions and appropriate referrals are suggested based on the interpretation of the assessment results.

Accommodation Assessments

This refers to an assessment administered to determine whether individuals with barriers to learning will benefit from accommodations in an academic setting. The objective is to ensure that they are given a fair opportunity during exams or assessments.

Career Assessments

Career assessments are offered to individuals in Grade 10/Form III or older to assist them in exploring possible career fields based on their aptitude, cognitive functioning, personality traits, behavioural habits and interests.

Subject Choice Assessments

Subject choice assessments are offered to individuals in Grade 9/Form II to assist them in choosing appropriate subjects based on their aptitude, cognitive functioning, personality traits, behavioural habits and interests.

Rates

My practice is registered with most medical aids. I claim directly only from Discovery and Bankmed. Clients with other medical aids must pay by card after each session. Session rates are available upon request.
